A new section covering club (collective) and special call signs has been added to the TOTA Rules.
The rules now describe their registration, activation procedure, ADIF log uploads, and the allocation of activator points to the actual operators using the OPERATOR field.
Details and an example of a correct ADIF record can be found in the “Club and Special Call Signs” section of the Rules.
The Towers On The Air (TOTA) programme continues its international expansion. From 8 August 2026, Malaysia will officially join the programme.
Malaysian towers will use the 9MR prefix and, from that date, can be activated and hunted under the same rules as towers in all other TOTA countries.
Special thanks go to the National Coordinator 9M2PJU – Piju, who prepared the Malaysian tower database within just a few days, making this exceptionally fast launch possible.
We look forward to welcoming Malaysian radio amateurs to the international TOTA community and wish them many successful activations.
Program Towers On The Air (TOTA) continues its international expansion. From 1 August 2026, two new entities officially join the program – the United Kingdom and the Azores.
The database has been expanded with British towers using the GBR prefix and towers in the Azores using the CUR prefix. From 1 August 2026, they can be activated and hunted in exactly the same way as towers in all other TOTA countries.
The British database was created in cooperation with the National Coordinator Clive G4NAQ, who prepared the initial list of British observation towers and viewpoints. The program covers the entire United Kingdom – England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
The inclusion of the Azores introduces the first island region within Portugal to the TOTA program and expands amateur radio activities into this attractive part of the Atlantic Ocean.
Both databases will continue to be expanded with additional towers and viewpoints that meet the TOTA eligibility criteria.
With the addition of the United Kingdom and the Azores, TOTA continues building a worldwide network of amateur radio activities combining radio, outdoor adventure, and the exploration of remarkable observation towers.
We would like to thank everyone involved in preparing both national databases for their time, dedication, and active support in the further development of the TOTA program.
On 21–22 August 2026, the WWTOTA team will participate in the 36th International Amateur Radio Meeting in Holice.
The presentation "Towers Without Borders" will tell the story of WWTOTA from its beginnings in the Czech Republic to an international community of activators and hunters across Europe, the Caribbean, and South America.
Presentations about outdoor activities will take place in the Music School hall on Saturday from 12:30.
Visitors can learn about the history of the program, tower activations, international expansion, and the people behind WWTOTA. Members of the WWTOTA core team will also be present.

We look forward to meeting you!
To monitor current activity on towers, we have launched an automated Telegram channel called TOTA bot spot.
It is not possible to post your own messages in this group – it serves purely as a spot overview. Everything runs automatically.
👉 What you will find there:
spots entered on the TOTA web cluster
spots from mobile applications
spots sent e.g. from Ham2K
Thanks to this, you get an instant overview of on-air activity.
📌 The QR code to join can be found in the Service section.
Great news for all activators and hunters!
With the latest update of Ham2K Portable Logger, the Towers On The Air (TOTA) activity is now fully integrated directly into the application.
What does this mean in practice?
✅ Native support for TOTA references while logging QSOs
✅ Automatic recognition and handling of tower references
✅ More convenient field logging during activations
✅ Faster and more accurate log uploads
TOTA is now officially among the fully supported international activities in one of the most widely used portable logging applications today.
Special thanks to the Ham2K development team for the excellent cooperation!
So – charge your batteries, pack your antenna… and head to the next tower! 🏰📡
