On 1 July 2026, the Towers On The Air (TOTA) program enters another phase of its international development. The project is officially expanding to Belgium.
Belgian lookout towers with the ONR prefix are gradually being added to the database. From 1 July 2026, they can be activated and hunted in the same way as TOTA references in other participating countries.
The expansion into Belgium has been established in cooperation with BOS! (Belgium Outdoor Shack), an organization bringing together amateur radio operators interested in outdoor activities and portable operation.
Belgian towers will provide new destinations for activators and exciting opportunities for hunters throughout Europe, while further strengthening the international TOTA community.
The program will start with an initial set of Belgian references, which will be continuously expanded.
We would like to thank the members of BOS! for their support of the project, their assistance in preparing the Belgian tower database, and their active cooperation in developing TOTA in Belgium.
To monitor current activity on towers, we have launched an automated Telegram channel called TOTA bot spot.
It is not possible to post your own messages in this group – it serves purely as a spot overview. Everything runs automatically.
👉 What you will find there:
spots entered on the TOTA web cluster
spots from mobile applications
spots sent e.g. from Ham2K
Thanks to this, you get an instant overview of on-air activity.
📌 The QR code to join can be found in the Service section.
Great news for all activators and hunters!
With the latest update of Ham2K Portable Logger, the Towers On The Air (TOTA) activity is now fully integrated directly into the application.
What does this mean in practice?
✅ Native support for TOTA references while logging QSOs
✅ Automatic recognition and handling of tower references
✅ More convenient field logging during activations
✅ Faster and more accurate log uploads
TOTA is now officially among the fully supported international activities in one of the most widely used portable logging applications today.
Special thanks to the Ham2K development team for the excellent cooperation!
So – charge your batteries, pack your antenna… and head to the next tower! 🏰📡
