🔷 What is TOTA
TOTA – Towers On The Air
International program for activating lookout towers
TOTA connects amateur radio operators who go out into the field, explore lookout towers, and operate from unique locations.
The project was created in the Czech Republic but has already crossed borders and is gradually expanding into other countries. We are building a unified system of towers that connects activators and hunters across the entire community. TOTA is not just a database – it is a living program built on activity, sharing, and cooperation. Every activation brings a new experience, and every contact moves the project forward.
🔷 Project Principles
🔭 Discover the beauty of lookout towers – TOTA encourages operators to explore viewpoints, from famous landmarks to forgotten towers.
📡 Support amateur radio activity – elevated locations offer excellent conditions for both HF and VHF.
👨👩👧 Connect people, technology, and outdoor adventures – TOTA brings families, tourism, and radio together.
How does the project work?
- 🎙️ Activator – transmits from the tower
- 📡 Hunter – makes contacts from anywhere
- 🏅 Award system – automatic diploma issuance based on collected points
🔷 Database & international development
TOTA currently operates an international lookout tower database across 13 countries in Europe, the Caribbean and South America.
